Edinburgh Festival Fringe

...1

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world’s largest festival of arts and culture. For three weeks in August, the city of Edinburgh is flooded with creative energy from all over the world. Artists and entertainers flock to hundreds of city stages to provide concerts for every taste. The festival caters to everyone, from great names in the entertainment industry to undiscovered artists trying to improve their careers, and includes theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children’s performances, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibits, and events. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe (also known as The Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe, or Edinburgh Fringe Festival) is the world’s largest arts festival, lasting 25 days and showcasing over 55,000 performances of 3,548 distinct shows in 317 venues in 2018. It was founded in 1947 as an alternative to the Edinburgh International Festival and is held in August in Edinburgh. In terms of worldwide ticketed events, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe has become a world-leading festival of arts and culture, only surpassed by the Olympics and the World Cup. According to its history and previous chairman of the board, Michael Dale, the event “has done more to establish Edinburgh in the forefront of world cities than anything else.”

The Fringe has become more structured since its inception, while it still rejects the invitation-only concept. In 1959, the Fringe Society was created to organise the burgeoning festival. Performers and theatre organisations who register with the Fringe Society are mentioned in an official schedule and have the option to sell tickets through the central box office. Unregistered participants are still welcome, and anybody with a venue is invited to put on a show. As a result of this policy, a wide range of acts, including children’s shows, comedy, dance, opera, musicals, dramas, acrobatic displays, workshops, and buskers, are offered.

When does the Fringe begin and end?

The next Fringe will be held from August 5 to August 29, 2022, marking the festival’s 75th anniversary. Veterans Day

...1

Veterans Day is a national holiday observed on November 11th in the United States to celebrate veterans of the military services and those died in the country’s conflicts. The event, known as Armistice Day, began in 1919 on the first anniversary of the 1918 armistice that ended World War I. It was memorialised in 1921 by the interment of an unnamed World War I soldier in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. Similar ceremonies were held that year in other nations that had lost soldiers in the battle, such as Italy and Portugal. Unknown troops had been interred the previous year in Westminster Abbey in London, England, and at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France.

In 1938, November 11 became an official national holiday in the United States. Veterans Day was renamed in 1954 to memorialize veterans who have served in all of the United States’ conflicts. Each year, ceremonies are performed at the Tomb of the Unknowns, and flower tributes are put on the graves of military members and at monuments around the country. Naturalization rituals have evolved into an essential element of the day’s events.

Veterans of World Wars I and II are honoured on November 11 in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and France. Remembrance Sunday is held on the second Sunday of November in the United Kingdom, while Remembrance Day is marked on November 11 in Canada. It is customary in the United Kingdom, Commonwealth nations, and European countries to observe two minutes of quiet at 11:00 a.m. on November 11, the time and date of World War I’s armistice in 1918.

Poppies have long been connected with World War I monuments thanks to John McCrae’s poem “In Flanders Fields,” and in various countries, paper poppies are sold to generate funds for veteran care and are worn in the lapel as a symbol of remembrance.

How to celebrate Veterans Day-

  • Attend a Veterans Day event in your town, not simply a picnic with friends, but a genuine march or ceremony for veterans. “We can’t all be heroes; someone needs to sit on the curb and cheer as they pass,” Roy Rogers stated. Veterans Day is an excellent occasion to do so.
  • Veterans Day is a great opportunity to fly the flag! Just make sure you’re following the display guidelines.
  • If you know a veteran, send them a simple postcard or e-card on Veterans Day. If you don’t know any veterans, find the nearest military installation and send one there. Small gestures of acknowledging someone’s service, especially if done anonymously, are much appreciated.
  • Veterans Day is a day to thank those who are now serving or who have served and are still with us. Memorial Day is a day to reflect on and memorialise those who died while serving their nation. Confusion or mixing the two lowers the significance of both.
  • Find out what the policies are for engaging with patients or volunteering at your local VA hospital, and spend the day with a veteran. Many VA facilities will have festivities or a special lunch that you may assist prepare on Veterans Day. Even if you never meet a veteran, volunteering at a facility is a great opportunity to give back.

Remembrance Sunday

...1

Remembrance Sunday is a holiday observed on the second Sunday of November in the United Kingdom that remembers British service men who have died in wars and other armed conflicts since the outbreak of World War I. Throughout the country, a two-minute period of silence is observed at 11 a.m., and church services and other ceremonial events take place throughout the day. For decades, a nationally broadcast commemoration ceremony at the Cenotaph monument in central London has been attended by politicians, religious leaders, military people, and members of the British royal family.

The holiday derives from Armistice Day, which was established in the United Kingdom on November 11, 1919, to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Treaty of Versailles, which ended World War I. In response to a politician’s idea, King George V suggested that the kingdom observe two minutes of silence in remembrance of the war’s casualties. Following that, a moment of silence became the focal point of Armistice Day ceremonies, which took place yearly until the onset of World War II in 1939, when it was determined that no major celebrations, would take place on November 11 of that year. Rather, throughout the conflict, a nearby Sunday was commemorated as a “day of dedication.”

Following the end of World War II, the British government, in order to honour participants in both wars, formally replaced Armistice Day with a new Sunday celebration known as Remembrance Sunday. The date was set in 1956 as the second Sunday of the month. Armistice Day has been resurrected in recent years as an alternative opportunity for quiet, however Remembrance Sunday remains the primary day of observance.

The red poppy, which became connected with World War I monuments as dozens of the flowers sprouted across the old battlefields of Belgium and northern France, is the most iconic emblem of Remembrance Sunday. (The phenomena was illustrated in Canadian soldier John McCrae’s famed 1915 poem “In Flanders Fields.”) The newly created British Legion (now the Royal British Legion), a nonprofits organisation for veterans, began selling red paper poppies for Armistice Day in 1921, and its annual Poppy Appeal has been hugely successful ever then. Aside from poppies worn on clothes, wreaths made of poppies are typically placed at memorial locations. Since the 1930s, certain organizations have advocated white poppies as a symbol of peace, however this has often been greeted with opposition.

Victory in Europe Day

...1

The Allies celebrated the defeat of Nazi Germany and the end of Adolf Hitler’s Reich on May 8, 1945, stated organizational the end of the Second World War in Europe. This was dubbed V.E (Victory in Europe) Day. By April 1945, the Allies were beginning to overrun Germany from the west, while Russian forces moved from the east. On April 25, 1945, Allied and Soviet forces clashed at the Elbe River, and the German Army was almost completely annihilated. Hitler killed his dog, his new wife Eva, and then committed suicide in his Berlin bunker five days later. Admiral Karl Doenitz, his successor, dispatched General Alfred Jodl to General Dwight Eisenhower’s Supreme Allied Headquarters in Rheims to negotiate an end-of-war settlement. On May 7, at 2:41 a.m., General Jodl signed the unconditional surrender of German forces, which was to take effect on May 8, at 11:01 p.m. The Nazi scourge was defeated after six years and millions of lives were sacrificed, and the war in Europe was finally done. Here is what you should know about VE day,

Germany signed an unconditional surrender agreement-

On April 30, 1945, with Berlin besieged, Adolf Hitler committed suicide. Grand Admiral Karl Dönitz was selected as his successor. During his brief tenure as Germany’s president, Dönitz negotiated a peace treaty with the Allies while attempting to save as many Germans as possible from Soviet capture. On the 4th of May, a German delegation arrived at the headquarters of British Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery on Lüneburg Heath, east of Hamburg. Montgomery accepted the unconditional surrender of German forces in the Netherlands, northwest Germany, and Denmark at that point. On May 7, Supreme Allied Commander General Eisenhower received the unconditional surrender of all German forces at his headquarters in Reims, France. General Alfred Jodl signed the surrender paper on behalf of Germany, and it went into force the next day. Josef Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union, desired his own ceremony. As a result, on May 8, another paper was signed in Berlin, this time by German Field Marshal William Keitel. Dönitz’s plan was only partially successful, since millions of German soldiers surrendered to Allied forces, avoiding Soviet arrest.

Germany’s capitulation came as no surprise-

The news of Germany’s capitulation did not come as a surprise. It had been predicted for some time, and people across the United Kingdom were ready to begin celebrating the end of the war. On 7 May, the declaration that the war in Europe had ended was conveyed to the British people over the radio late in the day. The BBC stopped its regular programming with a news flash stating that Victory in Europe Day will be declared a national holiday the next day. Newspapers carried the headlines as quickly as they could, and special editions were created to include the much-anticipated revelation. The word that the war in Europe had ended spread like wildfire over the world.

Guy Fawkes Day

...1

Guy Fawkes Night, often known as Bonfire Night, is a British celebration held on November 5 to commemorate the failure of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. The Gunpowder Plot conspirators, led by Robert Catesby, were fervent Roman Catholics who were outraged with King James I for refusing to offer Catholics more religious tolerance. They intended to blow up the Houses of Parliament (Palace of Westminster) during the state opening of Parliament, killing the king and members of Parliament to pave the way for the restoration of Catholic authority in England. When the conspirators were betrayed, the scheme collapsed. Guy Fawkes, one of them, was apprehended the evening before the attack, in the cellar where the explosives to be used were stored.

The other conspirators were either slain in the attempt to elude arrest or, like Fawkes, tried, convicted, and executed. Following this, Parliament established November 5 as a national day of gratitude, with the first ceremony taking place in 1606.

About Celebration –

Today, Guy Fawkes Day is commemorated with parades, fireworks, bonfires, and cuisine in the United Kingdom and a number of nations that were previously part of the British Empire. Straw effigies of Fawkes are burned, as are those of modern political personalities in various areas in recent years. Traditionally, in the days running up to Man Fawkes Day, youngsters carried these effigies, known as “Guys,” through the streets, asking passersby for “a penny for the guy.” The explosives that were never utilised by the plotters are represented by fireworks, which are a key component of most Guy Fawkes Day festivities. Guards conduct a yearly search of the Parliament building for prospective arsonists, however the inspection is more ceremonial than serious. Lewes, in southern England, has a Guy Fawkes Day celebration with a particularly local flavour, featuring six bonfire clubs whose memberships are based on family history dating back generations.

How to Commemorate Guy Fawkes Night-

  • If you have old wood to burn, invite your pals over for a campfire.
  • Throw straw effigies into your bonfire to commemorate the day’s history.
  • Light fireworks and sparklers to let the day go off with a boom.
  • Parkin cake, roasted potatoes, or soup might be served to commemorate the occasion.
  • To commemorate the event, sip mulled wine.
  • If you want to dress up, put on a Guy Fawkes mask.
  • Enjoy a fireworks display with your friends or family.

How do you approach a girl at a music festival/event?

...1

Approach a female like you would be a buddy, by actually enjoying yourself, moving, dancing, and encouraging her to join you in that “vibe.” Don’t stare, don’t touch her at first, and keep your wild nature in check. A lot of males out there have a difficult time determining when a female (who may be dancing nearby) wants to dance with them. Things may get complicated in a lively, energetic, and uplifting situation like an EDM festival, and as a male, you could mix a few signals and wind up with an unwelcome negative response. Your first approach should always be nice and enjoyable, and you should always make the female feel safe. You should never take advantage of any “opportunity.” So, don’t get all touchy-feely until the girl has obviously consented to it, in addition to her want to dance with you in the first place. The spirit of positivism and unity, as is widely known in the EDM scene, are significant components in the culture and the way people engage with one another, whether on the dance floor at a festival or at home in a tiny neighbourhoods club. One of the main reasons people attend these massive gatherings is that EDM festivals bring together like-minded people and allow them to bond and create new acquaintances.

Have fun first –

We cannot stress this enough. The overall goal of the EDM festival experience is to promote togetherness and pleasure in a good setting. So why ruin the enjoyment by fretting about some female you see there? Have a great time and everything else will come into place. People are drawn to cheerful, enjoyable people who don’t appear to be looking for a physical relationship. Instead, keep things light and entertaining, make jokes with your pals, and get to know the people around you in a pleasant manner. The more enjoyable you are, the more ladies will be drawn to you.

Don’t be touchy –

How would you feel if someone came at you out of nowhere and started grinding when you were out having fun with your close friends? You’ll feel like a cheap piece of meat, as if you’ve done something to make yourself appear so cheap and approachable to everyone. That’s exactly how you’d make a female feel. Instead, how about looking for any common ground during your festival experience that may bring some fun, a few chuckles, and excitement to your day? A joke here, a witty remark there will go a long way. And it may even be the start of a wonderful new friendship that lasts beyond the festival.

Take No Advantage-

We all know that people drink during EDM festivals, and some of them may become pretty inebriated very quickly. As a result, it’s wise to presume that the female you’re chatting to or want to talk to has been drinking for a while. Which leads me to my point: Never take advantage of someone’s inability to agree if they are under the effects of alcohol or drugs. Always ensure that the female you’re approaching is OK with what you’re saying or doing, and that you’re not crossing any personal limits.

Sure shot Tips to Hook up with a Girl at a Concert

...1

Women have a plethora of dating apps to choose from. Creeps, on the other hand, are highly common. Even if a woman is open to hook-ups, she does not want someone to pop the question right away. If your first line implies that you want to get into her trousers, she won’t go with you. So here’s how you play it smart, smooth, and hook-up like a gentleman at a concert.

Just be normal– “Hello, introduce yourself, and strike up a regular discussion.” It’s incredible how far being average can go you.” The person you are about to approach is just another human being. And if they refuse to speak with you, that’s OK; you’ll find someone who will. They are not a nasty person, a b*tch, or an asshole simply because they are not interested in conversing with you.”

Make Her Notice You-

When you’re next to her, the goal is to remain unobtrusive while remaining confident. Hopefully you brought some buddies with you and are still drinking, since your number one priority from now on is to have fun. It’s a concert, so talk to your friends and dance. You’ve positioned yourself effectively now, and if you’re actually having fun, it tends to attract people’s attention. Of course, because of the positioning, some inadvertent contact will occur, and you should endeavour to make eye contact. Girls appreciate it when you show them your teeth, so smile and whatnot.

Introduce Yourself-

It’s absolutely okay to introduce oneself after being shoulder to shoulder for a song or two. Give her your name, but don’t start asking nonsense questions like where she’s from or where she went to college. Those inquiries aren’t excellent icebreakers anyplace, and they’re especially ineffective during the 30 second interval between songs at a noisy concert. If you’re extremely secure about going back to your location, ask her what her personal favourite by the band is, or if you can buy her a drink. Do not begin discussing your siblings or your dog.

Don’t Be Too Provocative-

Guy is capable of making the move, but concerts are an odd environment. They’re dark, crowded with strangers, and extremely noisy. Grabbing a lady by the waist and starting some grinding may be beneficial on occasion, but it is considerably more embarrassing for all parties involved when the girl quickly disengages and drags her and her companions out of the area. You run the danger of coming off as a creep, not to mention that you’re acting like one. Because she doesn’t know who you are, you must wait to see if she is interested. People will start pairing off after the first couple of songs if you’re at the correct performance. It’s going on all over the place, and if it’s something she’ll want to be a part of and you seem like a nice man, she’ll want to dance with you. It’s a basic notion, but if anything is going to happen, let her start it, or at the very least ask her if she wants to dance. You’d be shocked how many times females merely want to dance with the guy next to them. It may not appear to be the norm, but it is.

Make Your Move-

You’ve been dancing with her for about five or six songs now, and it’s time to make a move. Everyone has a few in their repertoire, and I’m not going to share mine with the rest of P&P. While asking to dance is certainly okay, going for the “Wanna make out?” is definitely not the smoothest. Perform better. Try it out. You’ve gone this far; you’ll be able to pull it off.

Midnight Star concerts 2022

...1

Midnight Star is a band from Frankfort, Kentucky, that was founded in 1976. The band has released nine studio albums since their debut, and are most known for their 1984 top twenty smash single “Operator” and their double platinum certified hit album “No Parking on the Dance Floor.” Midnight Star formed to perform the parties held on their university campus when each member was enrolled at Kentucky State University, and grew to the point where they could create a party anyplace else in the known cosmos. After making a name for themselves in their home state of Kentucky, the band travelled to New York City in 1978 to perform at a Solar Records showcase, which they acquitted themselves admirably. Dick Griffey, the head of Solar Records, signed the group personally, and their debut album, “The Beginning,” was launched in 1980.

Their second album, “Standing Together,” was their first to chart on the Billboard Chart, but it wasn’t until 1983, with their massive smash album “No Parking on the Dance Floor,” that they truly became mainstream sensations. The album’s debut song, “Freak-A-Zoid,” was a tremendous smash on the R&B charts, and the album went on to be certified double Platinum. Its follow-up, “Planetary Invasion,” was a similar-sized smash fueled by the band’s lone top twenty song, “Operator,” and while the band originally disbanded in 1990, they reformed precisely a decade later and have been touring ever since. Midnight Star comes highly recommended, with over four decades of expertise and some of the most rowdy live concerts in funk.

Valentines Day R&B concert 2022 (R&B Bash)

...1

Introduction and History –

Rhythm and blues, commonly known as rhythm & blues or R&B, is a word used to describe numerous forms of postwar African-American popular music, as well as some white rock music that was influenced by it. Jerry Wexler developed the word in 1947, when editing the charts for the trade publication Billboard and discovering that record companies releasing Black popular music thought the chart titles of the time (Harlem Hit Parade, Sepia, and Race) were insulting. After using the phrase rhythm and blues in news pieces for the preceding two years, the magazine altered the name of the chart in its June 17, 1949, issue. Although the records that followed featured on Billboard’s rhythm-and-blues chart in a range of styles, the word was used to include a variety of modern forms that arose at the time. Perhaps the most widely accepted definition of the term is as a description of the sophisticated urban music that had been developing since the 1930s, when Louis Jordan’s small combo began making blues-based records with humorous lyrics and upbeat rhythms that owed as much to boogie-woogie as to classic blues forms. This song, often known as jump blues, established a rhythm that became the dominant Black popular music genre during and after World War II.

Jordan, Amos Milburn, Roy Milton, Jimmy Liggins, Joe Liggins, Floyd Dixon, Wynonie Harris, Big Joe Turner, and Charles Brown were among its most prominent practitioners. Many of the songs in these singers’ repertoires were in the standard 12-bar A-A-B blues form, while others were pure pop tunes, light jazz instrumentals, or pseudo-Latin compositions.
